Unless you were hiding under a rock all those months, you'd know that the Vancouver Canucks expressed significant interest in signing veteran Mats Sundin before the season kicked off earlier this year. They thought that he would bring all kinds of leadership and scoring potential to the somewhat depleted Vancouver hockey club. Well, it didn't happen and the Canucks are still sitting on top of their division.
Now that Brian Burke has signed on as the new General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the talks have suddenly resurfaced concerning the possible arrival of Mats in Vancouver. It's not like Sundin is still technically connected to the Leafs, but his relationship to the team might bring him back into contract talks and this may lead to further discussion with the Canucks.
It's hard to say whether Mats should still join the Canucks and the reasoning is much the same as during the preseason. He's going to 38 in February. He's past his prime. Further still, the Canucks are managing a fair bit of success already. Why do they need another salary cap burden. For more on the matter, check out the article through the Source link below.
