The 2010 Olympic Games already have three official mascots, but did you know about the fourth unofficial mascot that has largely been restricted to cyberspace? Meet Mukmuk. He's a Vancouver Island marmot and VANOC has dubbed the poor fellow as the "virtual reality sidekick to the Vancouver 2010 mascots."
Ironically, he's the only one of the bunch that is actually based on a real animal. By contrast, we have Quatchi the Sasquatch, Miga the Sea Bear, and Sumi the Animal Guardian Spirit. The unfortunate fact of the matter for Mukmuk is that you cannot go out and buy any of his merchandise nor does Mukmuk get to attend community events promoting the upcoming Olympic games. He's virtually "jailed" on the web, serving as some sort of afterthought.

I think Mukmuk should have full mascot status. Considering, that he looks like a beaver our national animal for Canada. Not only would it represent Vancouver but the country as a whole.

I think Mukmuk should be given full mascot status. In my opinion he is the cutest and most well known charactor of the olypmics. I feel that people know who Mukmuk is and should be given the mascot status and need to be given a chance be even more well known than he already is.

Adding onto my other comment he should be given full mascot status to the olypmic games because he is the only REAL animal out of the charactors and also he is an endangared species and who knows how much longer the marmot species will be here? Personally, I think that Mukmuk SHOULD be a public holder, mostly because he shouldn't be virtually jailed or kicked away. There is a lot of merchandise of Mukmuk out in the market and I'm wondering why he shouldn't be in official Mascot. I mean, people, you're talking about the Olympics. Why are you talking about a waste of $40 when its just a bit of addition to the Olympics? This is Mukmuk, the cute little beaver-like mascot, who should be put into the Olympics. Anyways, he IS the only real animal out of the four mascots. He does look more beaver type then marmot, though. I think you should have Mukmuk with the other mascots because it will belike "Then what did you make Mukmuk for?" And also, it is like stereotyping because Mukmuk might be different from the other mascots, but that is like everyone looks different in the world. No one has the exact same face with anyone.
i think muk muk should have the rights to be a mascot. he should have his place he has been waiting for them to choose him and they don't? and if you have more mascots which means more toys which means more admirers which means more money so the olympics can go on. think about how muk muk would feel if he was alive. think about how your parents would sometimes choose your siblings over you. didn't that feel very bad? well now but yourself in muk muk's feet. think about how he feels to be over powered by 3 "siblings". why are you guy so selfish?

Mukmuk should be more prominent as a mascot and become the good luck charm for the mogul ski events. Marmots live in burrows, and burrows on a field can create lumps and bumps just like those on the slopes where the mogul ski events take place. He is a real animal that is endangered and we could promote the protection of the marmot through the publicity of an Olympic Winter Games' mascot.

I think the olympics has way to much money sponsored for it! Imagine what we could do with 1$ from every person who came! And this so called "Mukmuk" should not have even been invented! And ,oh yeah, Sumi Walii, or who ever they are should go! I would not pay 40$ for some type of "Spirit Baluga!" When I think of BC I do not think of some totem pole that looks like a flying squirrel! Or a whale that looks like a panda with fins! I think of the rockys and the wide open praries of sascatchawan, I think of owls! Just because Mukmuk is a real,so called,"animal" does not mean he is "all that!!!!"(I mean with all this attention you could think he was elvis...:P)
