Weekend to End Breast Cancer this Weekend

There's something truly special happening in Vancouver this weekend -- the Weekend to End Breast Cancer, benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation.

The Weekend is a 60K walk over two days through the streets of Vancouver, and all participants must raise a minimum of $2,000 to participate. I was a walker in the Weekend from 2005-2007, and I can tell you that walking 60K and raising $2,000 is no small feat. For those walkers, it's an incredibly emotional journey, and one of the things that keeps them going when their feet are blistered and their bodies are sore is the support from people in the neighbourhoods they walk through.

For safety reasons, they don't publish the walk's route, but you can get a good idea where the walkers will be from the designated cheering stations.

I'll be out cheering the walkers on at Kits Beach -- hope to see you there!
