We Have the Second Greenest Transportation Policies in the Country

vancouverbus.JPG

Vancouver is a city that prides itself in being forward thinking. We have one of the largest gay and lesbian populations in North America. We have a safe injection site. And we're also home to some of the best marijuana the world has ever known (or so I hear). Now, we can claim to be one of the greenest cities in the nation as well.

A Canada-wide survey ("GreenApple") has concluded that Vancouver ranks second in terms of "green urban transportation policies." Taking a look around town, you can spot a few alternative fuel buses, electric skytrains, and plenty of park-and-ride lots. You'll also notice that we have anti-idling laws for motorists as well.

The most environmentally-friendly city according to the GreenApple study? Victoria, BC. Metropolitan areas rounding out the top six are Ottawa-Gatineau, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal.
