Wai Young Appeals Ujjal's Win in Vancouver South

waiyoung.jpg

We know that Stephen Harper is forming a minority government in Ottawa again, but it seems that the election in the Vancouver South riding has yet to be fully determined. As you may recall, Ujjal Dosanjh was declared the winner when the original count showed him winning by 33 votes. After a mandated recount, Ujjal was only ahead by 22 votes, but he was still ahead.

Well, it seems that the Conservative candidate for that riding is not going to go down without a fight. Considering that there are thousands of votes cast in that riding, a difference of 22 is a drop in the bucket. As such, Wai Young is officially appealing the result in court. If she can swing 23 votes in her favor, it will be Young who heads to Ottawa and not Dosanjh.

Young is not happy that "not all the ballot boxes were rechecked in the [recount] process." Over 30,000 votes were cast in Vancouver South in total.
