VPD Says Anti-Gang Task Force is Working

vpdtakedown.jpg

The big news that has been going around in our city for the past couple of weeks has been gang warfare with several unsolved shootings happening everywhere from Coquitlam to Shaugnessy. While the RCMP are still investigating several cases, the Vancouver Police Department i saying that "their Violence Suppression Team is already making a difference."

The anti-gang task force is comprised of 56 police officers and they have been checking out known gang hangouts for their first week on the beat. And their presence is working, because it seems that Vancouver's gang members have largely gone into hiding. Inspector Dean Robinson leads the team and he says that "gang members have made themselves hard to find" and that "they're not as thick as they were in the places they would normally find them hanging out."

What do you think? Is the crackdown working?
