VPD Chief Earns $250,000 a Year

vpd-graham.jpg

Have you ever wondered how much police officers make?

It has now been learned that former Vancouver Police Chief Jamie Graham earned almost a quarter of a million dollars in his last year in office, 2007. The Vancouver Sun used the freedom of information act to see a list of all staff members on the Vancouver Police Department who earned more than $75,000 in 2007, and it's not surprising to find Jamie Graham at the top of the list.

What is surprising is that his 2007 earnings came in at $248,408. In total, including all salaries and bonuses, nearly 1000 officers and civilian staff earned over $75,000 last year. If you're curious, current police chief Jim Chu earned $193,145 in 2007. I guess it pays well to serve and protect.
