Vancouver Rated 2nd Best City to Visit with Your Dog

doghotel.jpg

Most cities have kennel services, but oftentimes, you want to take a vacation with Fido and not leave him behind. And Vancouver is one of the best places you can take that lovable pooch. According to a California-based website, Vancouver is the second best city in the United States and Canada to visit with your dog, trailing only behind Boston as a dog-friendly destination.

The Vancouver Sun recently had an opportunity to speak to Dana Moores, front office manager for the Sylvia Hotel. Located near English Bay in Downtown Vancouver, the Sylvia is one of the most dog-friendly businesses in Vancouver. "We have a box of dog treats right at the front desk," said Moores. "We have people who bring dogs, cats, even one that brought a bird. As long as the pet is well-behaved, that's the only requirement. And the guest is also responsible for any damage."

In addition to our hotels, there are many other businesses and areas that are very pet friendly as well. For example, Gastown is often cited as a great place to take a stroll with the dog, because many of the local businesses allow you to bring them inside. You can bring a leashed dog onto the ferry, and small dogs can be put in carriers and brought on board public transit vehicles.

Other cities that made the top 10 list include New York, San Francisco, Austin, Orlando, San Diego, and Dallas-Fort Worth.
