Vancouver Quadra By-Election is Today

polls.jpg

If you happen to live in the Vancouver Quadra riding -- which includes the UBC campus -- you might want to head out to your nearest polling station today, because a by-election is being held for the west side riding.

The MP spot was made vacant in July when Stephen Owen when he stepped aside to take on a new position at the University of British Columbia.

The four candidates running for the spot are Rebecca Coad (NDP), Joyce Murray (Liberal), Deborah Meredith (Conservative), and Dan Grice (Green Party). Vancouver Quadra has traditionally voted Liberal, so it seems like Murray -- a former Provincial politician -- has the best shot going into today's vote, which happens to be one of four byelections being held across the country.

Polls will be open until 7pm tonight.
