Vancouver Pride Parade Aug. 3

theme_logo.jpgThe Vancouver Pride Parade happens this Sunday, August 3, starting at noon.

Last year, there weer 385,000 spectators. To accommodate an expected 500,000 this year (it's the 30th anniversary of the parade, and the 30th anniversary of the creation of the rainbow flag), the parade route has been expanded. The new start point is Robson at Thurlow.

From there, the parade heads West down the hill to Denman, along Denman to Pacific, then finishes at Sunset Beach. You can find the route map here.

After the parade is over, celebrations continue at the Sunset Beach festival site. Over 80,000 people are expected in the park, where you can listen to the live music on the Vancity Festival Stage, and hang out at the beer garden.

You can learn more about the Pride Parade, or the Vancouver Pride Society here.
