Vancouver Parking Considered a Bargain

UndergroundParking.JPG

Upset about the possible hike to downtown parking prices? Maybe you shouldn't move to Toronto, Calgary, or Montreal, because their parking is still much more expensive than the spots you can find in Downtown Vancouver.

The annual North American parking rate survey conducted by Colliers International was released yesterday, showing that Vancouver had one of the cheapest parking rates of any major Canadian city. In downtown Vancouver, you can get a reserved space for a median monthly price of $305.10. Compare this to $421.80 in Toronto, $414.04 in Montreal, and a whopping $475 a month in Calgary. A similar trend is found with unreserved spots as well. The national city average for Canada is $205.75.

But Canada is still cheaper than our neighbors to the south. Midtown New York and Downtown New York chime in at US$630 and $500, respectively. If you want to get really expensive, then look no further than London City, where a month of parking "costs the equivalent of $1,198 US."
