Vancouver Named Best Walking City in Canada

Vancouver has been recognized as the 2008 Best Walking City in Canada by the Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine.

Our home town scored high points for:

• percentage of people who walk to work (8.67%)


• number of kilometers of trails (9.33 km)


• ideal year round temperatures (average 10 degrees C)


• good air quality (average 10 poor air quality days)


• many points of interest and attractive landscapes

The award also recognized the contribution of Active Communities Vancouver, and the city's infrastructure, which "emphasizes and supports walkability through: transportation corridors, land acquisition and establishing Neighbourhood Greenways."

So why not take those walking shoes out for a spin?
