Vancouver Jazz Festival Kicks Off in Style

jazzfest.jpg

Vancouver is known to be one the most happening places to be in the summer. Shakespeare enthusiasts have been flocking Vanier Park in droves to attend Bard on the Beach and now the more musically inclined have a huge event of their own to enjoy. The TD Canada Trust Vancouver International Jazz Festival kicked off this past weekend and loads of fun were had by all. Don't worry, even if you missed the festivities these past couple of days, you've still got the rest of the week to soak in some beautiful, beautiful jazz!

This is the 23rd year for the Jazz Festival, a ten-day affair that kicked off this past Friday. Total attendance is expected to be in the half million range with concerts being held in many locations around the city. In fact, 20 venues were used on the first day alone. These included everywhere from the Orpheum Theatre to Granville Island, the Commodore Ballroom to the Western Front, "a small Mount Pleasant performance space."

More information on the festival can be found on their official website.
