Vancouver International Jazz Festival Headlined By...

herbiehancock.jpg

Vancouver is home to a lot of festivals and that's why so many people enjoy coming to our city, soaking in so much culture. Summer is when most of these festivals take place and that's about when the Vancouver International Jazz Festival comes rolling through town. There will undoubtedly be several artists that will catch any jazz enthusiast's eye, but the influential jazz composer, keyboardist and bandleader who will open the fest is none other than Herbie Hancock.

You might remember Herbie from the hit single "Rockit", which took the world by storm in 1983. He was won ten Grammy awards, in addition to the three nominations that he has this year for River: The Joni Letters. This features Hancock's take on Joni Mitchell.

We also hear that Wynton Marsalis will be a part of this year's jazz fest. The festival runs from June 20-29. The full lineup will be announced in April.
