Vancouver International Auto Show 2008

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! Well, you might not want to start those engines, but you can get up close and personal with some of the coolest cars on the planet, both production and concept, at the Vancouver International Auto Show, which kicks off this Saturday under the dome at BC Place Stadium.

Running from March 29th to April 6th, the Vancouver Auto Show will be highlighting vehicles from manufacturers all around the world. The theme for this year's show, it seems, is to go green, as there are more energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly cars than ever before. One of the most notable appearances will be made by the Chevrolet Volt shown above, a car that can run completely on electricity while maintaining some great sports car-like performance.

"Consumers want efficiency in their automobiles for the sake of economy and the environment, but they also want performance," explained Glen Ringdal, president of the New Car Dealers of B.C., hosts of the show in BC Place Stadium. "That is the challenge that manufacturers are wrestling with today in the design of new cars. I think people attending this year's show will find that manufacturers are meeting that challenge head on."

General admission to the show is $12 with discounts for seniors, students, and children. For more information, check out the official website at http://www.vancouverinternationalautoshow.com/.
