Vancouver Boys Dream Up Superbad Movie

superbadmovie.jpg

Knocked Up starring Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogan has been quite the sleeper movie of the summer and the latter star is going to hit up the silver screen one more time before all the kids have to go back to school. What makes Superbad a little more interesting to BC citizens, however, is that Seth Rogan grew up in Vancouver, alongside his buddy Evan Goldberg. In fact, Superbad is based on their childhoods growing up right here in our fair city.

Director Judd Apatow -- the same guy that did 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up -- seems to be displaying a natural progression in the lewdness and crudeness of his films. 40 Year Old Virgin involved an older man finding love and getting his cherry popped. Knocked Up involved a child out of wedlock. And now, in Superbad, we see teens talking about having sex with girls, drinking booze, and doing all sorts of, well, super bad things.

Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogan have been effectively working on this movie since they were 13; yes, Superbad has been 10 years in the making. “I mean, the general idea was always in there,” Goldberg reports. “Two guys trying to buy alcohol to impress girls.”

What a way to represent Vancouver!
