Vancouver Art Gallery Cafe: A Hidden Patio Gem

When you think of great patios to sit and drink a beer after work, or even have a nice meal, I bet the Vancouver Art Gallery doesn't come up on the top of your list. But it should. The Gallery Cafe is one of our city's true hidden secrets.

Nestled against the gallery, with stairs leading down to Robson Square, the Gallery Cafe patio is the place to be on a sunny afternoon. With flowers everywhere and live classical music, the ambiance is top-notch. And the food is pretty good, too – though I'll admit not spectacular, since you go inside to order from a counter and bring it out yourself on a tray. The dessert squares are mighty tasty, though, and at only $1.50 each you can load up a plate to share with friends and keep your taste buds happy all afternoon.

The Gallery Cafe is open Monday to Friday 9 am - dusk, Saturday 9:30 am - 6 pm, and Sunday 10 am - 6 pm.

You can find out more about the Gallery Cafe here.
