Translink Orders 141 Hybrid Buses From Volvo

novabus.jpg

Seeing how we're on the West Coast and all, Vancouver is known for having slightly more liberal views than the rest of the country and we're also known to have a little more of a "green" philosophy when it comes to our transportation needs. As such, TransLink -- which is responsible for most of our mass transit needs in the Greater Vancouver area -- has ordered a total of 141 hybrid electric buses from Nova.

More specifically, the order calls for Nova LFS HEV hybrid electric buses and these new vehicles will be delivered some time in early to mid-2009. There's a good chance that you haven't heard of the Nova name before, but it does come with the backing of a much larger firm. That's because Nova Bus is a subsidiary of Volvo, a car manufacturer known for the highest level of safety possible and not necessarily for producing the greenest of cars.

Translink has an option to buy an additional 110 vehicles if the initial batch are to their satisfaction.
