The Truth Revealed

sun0716-stevenson3.jpg

City Councilor Tim Stevenson sat before the press on Monday to admit that he had been caught drunk driving over a year ago. He had plead guilty, was charged $690 on top of his license being suspended for a year.

I am glad he made it public. I just wish he hadn't waited so long to do so. Though I do understand his mortification.

Stevenson described how he attempted to drive home after drinking 31/2 pints of beer over two or three hours at the PumpJack, a Davie Street nightclub.

"I could have called a cab. I could easily have walked home, but I made the mistake of getting behind the wheel to drive the eight to 10 blocks home," he said.

When stopped by police on Davie Street, Stevenson said he blew 0.14, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08.

As we all recall, our fine Premier was arrested for drunk driving while whooping it up in Hawaii in 2003.

Bad judgment happens to all of us. Especially after a few pints. It is a pity he wasn't drinking with friends who could have cautioned him on his decision.
