Sunshine Coast Festival of the Written Word this Weekend

fwalogo08.gifIf you're a writer, a poet, a just a fan of good Canadian literature, you may want to brave the new ferry surcharge and head over to Sechelt this weekend for the Sunshine Coast Festival of the Written Word.

The festival bills itself as "the longest running summer gathering of Canadian writers and readers." Since 1983, this summer event has drawn Canadian authors, editors, and publishers to the Sunshine Coast.

This year, the two biggest names on the schedule are Michael Ondaatje and Gail Anderson-Dargatz. Ondaatje's opening night presentation is sold out, but there are still ticket available for Anderson-Dargatz.

All ticketed festival events take place at Rockwood Centre in Sechelt. A Festival Pass for all weekend events (except the salmon barbecue, which is sold out) is $250, and tickets for individual events are $15. You can find out more about the festival, or buy tickets online, here.
