Steve Tambellini Joins Edmonton Oilers

tambellini.jpg

After spending seventeen long years with the Vancouver Canucks hockey franchise, Steve Tambellini has announced that he is taking the position of general manager with the Edmonton Oilers.

Seventeen years is a very long time. Tambellini started out as the director of media relations before moving into player personnel. His last position with the team was as assistant general manager, working under Dave Nonis and then Mike Gillis.

The 50-year-old Tambellini signed a four-year-deal with the Oilers and will be succeeding Kevin Lowe in the general manager position. Lowe is still working with the Oilers organization as the president of hockey operations for Rexall Sports.
