Sins of the City Walking Tour

The Vancouver Police Museum (240 Cordova Street East) offers a two-hour "Sins of the City" walking tour that takes participants through the oldest parts of Vancouver, exploring the early history of the city.

I must interject here: Who knew we had a police museum? Checking out their web site, it looks like they've got some pretty cool stuff housed there: "objects, photographs and archival materials related to the history of policing in Vancouver and the forensic sciences."

But back to the tour. It covers 10 city blocks, and takes you to the site of one of Vancouver’s oldest brothel districts, the location of the city’s first saloon, and the first police station (and jail). The Sins of the City tour runs every Wednesday at 2 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays at 4 p.m. until September 29.

The cost is $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors, and includes entry to the police museum on the day of your tour. You'll need to book a spot 24 hours in advance. Contact information is available on the Vancouver Police Museum's web site here.
