It wasn't that long ago that the Boxing Day sale at A&B Sound was considered legendary. People would line up for hours overnight, just for the opportunity to score some incredible deals on televisions and other electronics. These days, A&B Sound is largely overshadowed by larger competitors and it just doesn't attract the same kind of volume as it once did.
That's why the Vancouver-based consumer electronics retailer has decided to close down its two Vancouver stores. The store located downtown at 556 Seymour Street and the one on Southwest Marine Drive are both shut down for good. Just three years ago, there were 21 stores across Western Canada. With the recent closures, A&B Sound is down to just five locations: North Vancouver, Pitt Meadows, Abbotsford, Langford and Edmonton.
"It is with regret that we announce the immediate closure of both A&B Sound Vancouver locations," the company said in a news release. "Both stores were struggling. We determined that we could not turn the situation around and that the right business decision was to focus on our other locations."

A/B DIED NOT JUST BECAUSE OF POOR MANAGEMENT AND MARKETING OVER THE PAST FEW YEAR AND NOT JUST BECAUSE OF COMPETETION AND DOWNLOADING PROBABLY THE BIGGEST RESON IS BECAUSE THEY UNLIKE FUTURE AND HMV NEVER EMBRACED E- COMMERENCE IF THEY DID 5 YEARS AGO THEY STILL MIGHT BE AROUND TODAY A/B HAD THE WORST WEBSITE ON THE NET!
It is very unfortunate that A & B Sound had to go out of business but if they hadn't expanded so quickly forcing them to really water down their talent pools in management and sales they might still be around.Sure the competition was hard but mismanagement is ultimately what killed A & B Sound.
The tipping point for a city on the rise.

I used to work for A&B Sound and I think they expanded far too quickly without keeping hold of their key people in sales and management.Except for upper management of which there were far too many superfluous salaries for non essential positions.Basically they went too big too fast without the foresight to think these moves through and see the big picture. Thanks
