Roberto Luongo Will Quit Hockey If They Increase Net Size

Any talk of hockey in Vancouver inevitably turns to a discussion of the city's netminder, Roberto Luongo. The Montreal native is clearly the backbone of the current Vancouver Canucks squad and today, he's also one of the most outspoken.

The NHL is considering increasing the size the of the net, making it easier to score goals in the increasingly offensively-geared hockey league. Roberto Luongo -- or Bobby Lu, as he has come to be known -- is adamantly against this change. He said that he'll put up with crease crashers, but Roberto went on the record and said that he would rather retire early than play a game with an expanded net. The current net measures four feet by six feet.

Luongo goes on to say that "the game has changed. That's why goalies need more protection."

    Luongo never quit!!! you are the best goalie in the Lengue i know there is stress I play hocey as goalie there is people screaming if the other team score they get mad right Luongo dont mind them just try your best and stay with Canucks they are only winning because of you.

    Is nothing sacred? this isnt roller hocky. you shouldnt make the nets bigger. thats just dumb. the equipment is already smaller and they can hardly play the puck now too. the crease is half its size. Thier are shootouts all the time and many many more great scoring chances from the crackdown on obstruction. ill say again " Is nothing sacred?"
