Roberto Luongo is No All Star

robertoluongo-allstar.jpg

Ask anyone in the Vancouver area if someone from the Canucks deserves to go to the NHL All-Star Game in Atlanta, and the resounding majority will point at our city's superstar goalie. Thing is, Roberto Luongo will not be playing in this year's All Star Game at all. In fact, he's not even going to be in town.

It's not because Luongo isn't garnering enough votes -- he was actually voted as the starting goalie for the Western Conference -- but rather because he "wants to spend time with his pregnant wife, Gina, at their offseason home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The baby is due in April."

Instead of Luongo (who received 263,221 votes), it's going to be Pascal Leclaire of the Columbus Blue Jackets (180,381 votes) who will get the nod for the Western Conference. The All-Star game is scheduled for Jan. 27.
