R.I.P. Luc Bourdon (1987-2008)

The Vancouver Canucks lost a very promising prospect earlier today when defenceman Luc Bourdon died in a motorcycle accident in northern New Brunswick. Bourdon was just 21 years old.

Word is that Luc Bourdon was riding his motorcycle when he unexpected lost control, hitting a tractor-trailer. No further details have been released at this time, but both Bourdon's sister and stepmother have confirmed his death.

Bourdon played his junior hockey with the Moncton Wildcats, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and Val d'Or Foreurs of the QMJHL. He spent his rookie pro season last year between the NHL Vancouver Canucks and the AHL's Manitoba Moose. He scored two goals and was a plus-7 in the 27 games he played for the Canucks last season.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Luc Bourdon's family and friends.
