Poster Boys at The Arts Club

Poster Boys is only on for one more week at The Arts Club Granville Island Stage (closing night is April 26), but you should pick up a ticket for this week if you can.

This new play, written by Vancouver playwright Michele Riml, was inspired by a 2002 Vancity ad campaign featuring a gay couple hugging on a poster advertising the local credit union. But the back-story in this fun play is a creation of Riml's imagination, and the result is a touching and sometimes hilarious story of love, loss, and the struggle to accept ourselves and each other for who we really are.

The acting in this play is brilliant. Lois Anderson portrays the frantic character of Caroline with humour and wit; Luke Camilleri is charming as her young assistant and plaything; and Daniel Arnold and Scott Bellis are at turns warm, dark, and just generally perfect as the couple at the centre of the story.

For more information about Poster Boys, or to buy tickets ($33 - $41), visit http://www.artsclub.com/20072008/onstage/poster-boys.htm

To make the night complete, have a drink at the charming Upstage Lounge, either before the show or during the intermission. Located at the top of the stairs that lead to the back of the theatre, this is a great room with incredible views over the water. You'll need your ticket to get in.
