Polar Bear Swim Ends in a Fight

pbswim.jpg

It's an annual tradition around these parts to just go a little crazy and dive into absolutely frigid waters in the name of fun and camaraderie. Ringing in the new year yesterday was Vancouver's 89th annual Polar Bear Swim, attended by locals and visitors alike. Yes, grown men in thongs dove into those icy waters, but that's not all they did.

At English Bay, it seems that the cold water got pretty heated. A couple of combatants broke into a fight at one point during the day's festivities. Ironically, one man was wearing a pink boa and the other was wearing red tights and a wrestling mask. For onlookers, it must have been quite the outrageous sight.

The fight eventually expanded to include one man in a clown suit and another in red Speedos. Another man in a gold one-piece joined in the melee as well. Police were able to control the scuffle and no charges are being laid at this time.
