Plenty Harvest Celebration at Van Dusen Gardens Today

Today, VanDusen Botanical Garden is hosting a celebration of the harvest season with Plenty – Harvest Celebration & Farmers’ Market.

The event will feature a mini Farmers’ Market featuring organic potatoes, squashes, artichokes, herbs, hazelnuts, apples, salad greens, and the last of this year's tomatoes.

There will be a number of food vendors to keep you full throughout your stay at the gardens – offering vegetarian Indian snacks, fair trade organic coffee, and organic pizzas and salads.

There are loads of activities for kids too -- from a ‘worm shop’ where they learn how to compost their food waste to workshops on seeds, pollination, and growing food. Musicians, performers, the Veggie People Mascots round out the day for kids.

You'll also have a chance to buy locally-grown berry bushes, grape vines, and fruit and nut trees to take home and plant in your garden. You can also learn about composting, growing organically, and pruning.

Plenty is on today from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Admission is $8.50 for adults, $6.25 for seniors, $6.50 for teens, and $4.50 for kids 6-12. Admission for a family of four is $19.50, and admission for Garden members and kids under 4 is free.

Van Dusen Gardens is at 5251 Oak Street.
