The Vancouver Canucks are going through some tough times these days, dwindling right at the border between barely making the playoffs and missing the NHL post-season altogether. Roberto Luongo has had a few off games, but we're all pretty confident that he's going to bounce back. If our defensive unit get can healthy, we can feel pretty safe about that too. What the Canucks need is some scoring power.
And that's exactly what they're going after, it seems, because Dave Nonis has confirmed that he -- along with Canucks captain Markus Naslund -- made a visit to Sweden last summer to visit with free agent Peter Forsberg. They refuse to release any further details, but it clearly demonstrates that the Canucks organization is very interested in acquiring Peter the Great before the trade deadline later this month.
Vancouver appears to be a frontrunner for Forsberg too, seeing how the Swede has already turned down offers from several other teams. As it stands, the four teams that have the best chance at landing the somewhat injury-prone veteran are Vancouver, Ottawa, Colorado, and Philadelphia.
