Peoples' Choice Award Coming to Summer Fireworks

fireworks-ppl.jpg

The HSBC Celebration of Light is one of the most highly anticipated events of the summer. For this year's fireworks competition, we can look forward to performances from three different national teams. Canada kicks things off on July 23, followed by the United States on July 26 and China on July 30. The Grand Finale rounds out the performances on August 2.

What makes this year's fireworks competition a little different is that in addition to the official panel of judges, the estimated 1.4 million people expected to attend this year can have their say into the first ever Peoples' Choice Award. The crowd favourite will be crowned based on votes from the spectators, who can voice their opinion via a text message system. After each show, they rate the performance on a scale of one to 10.

Part of the money generated from the text messages will be used to fund the free fireworks competition.
