Pavol Demitra Lands in Vancouver

demitra.jpg

Markus Naslund left the Canucks behind in favor of signing with the New York Rangers. Brendan Morrison waved goodbye as he inked a deal with the Anaheim Ducks. It seems like the core of the Vancouver Canucks was starting to fall apart, hurting the power of our team's offense more and more. We have Luongo, but he's not going to score any goals, right?

Well, the Canucks have fired back by signing some killer firepower. Free agent Pavol Demitra, formerly of the Minnesota Wild, has signed a two-year deal with the Vancouver Canucks worth $4 million per season, about the same amount of money that Naslund will be making in the Big Apple.

Demitra did say that Vancouver was his first choice and how he has followed through on that statement. Last season wasn't great for Pavol, but he foresees a bright future with Vancouver. If Sundin signs too, we could be looking at a top line of Sundin-Demitra-Raymond. Not too shabby.
