Over 20,000 Olympic License Plates on the Road

olympicplate.jpg

You've probably seen these Olympic license plates rolling around town. For an initial fee of $35 and an annual renewal fee of $25, you can proudly show your support of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games that will be taking place in Vancouver and Whistler in less than three years. These plates have been so popular, in fact, over 20,000 of them have already been sold.

To be more precise, "a special presentation was made to a Richmond resident [Michael Sentes]who purchased the 20,010 plate." Mr. Sentes also received a plaque and a commemorative sweater. I wonder how the buyer of plate number 20,009 feels.

More information on the Olympic license plates can be found on the ICBC website.
