North Vancouver Civic Employee Strike Ends

handshake.jpg

It looks like all this strike action is finally get some action done. With cities like Richmond and Delta settling their issues, North Vancouver has apparently come to an agreement with CUPE Local 389. Improvements to the contracts for 800 district and recreation commission workers were a priority.

The exact details of the deal have not yet been released, but ratification by the recreation commission is expected for early this week. The North Vancouver district council gave the agreement the go-ahead on Friday. CUPE 389 president Cindy McQueen says that union members are looking "forward to restoring services."

The only strike that remains in the Lower Mainland is the one in Vancouver proper.
