No More Gray Line West in Vancouver

grayline.jpg

The next time you head out to the bus and train station at Main and Terminal, you won't find Gray Line there anymore.

Gray Line West has put 79 employees out of work after shutting down their Vancouver bus tour operations. After acquiring the Vancouver operations from Greyhound Canada in 2005, Gray Line West has been bombarded with a high level of competition, making it difficult to develop a "viable business model," said company spokesman Ian Robertson.

The competition not only comes from other bus tour companies, but also because there are "so many other tourist options available in the city." Gray Line offered day trips to Victoria, Vancouver city tours, and trips to Whistler.

The Gray Line operations in Victoria and Banff will continue and will not be affected by the Vancouver closure.
