Ninth Annual Vancouver Chinatown Festival

The Vancouver Chinatown Festival is a chance to get an inside look at this unique neighbourhood while getting a taste of the local Chinese culture and tasting some excellent food. It's a huge annual summer event -- last year over 48,000 attended.

Activities at the festival include:

• Discover Chinatown's rich history and architecture while sampling Chinese delicacies on the Chinatown heritage and food-tasting tour.
• Watch performances, including banghra dancing, traditional Chinese fan dancing, traditional lion dances, Chinese kung fu, and martial arts on the multicultural stage.
• Try your hand at creating traditional Chinese folk art with brushes, paper-cutting, and other techniques.
• At the Kids' Corner, give yourself a thrill and an adrenaline rush by trying the fast-growing sport of rock climbing.

The ninth annual Vancouver Chinatown Festival happens at Columbia and Keefer St. August 9 and 10 from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Admission is free, and there's a bike valet on site.
