More Bugs in Vancouver Than Usual

wasp.jpg

When you head out into the great outdoors, you should probably expect to get visited by a few insects. If you're hosting a backyard barbecue, it's not out of the ordinary to attract a few bugs. As it turns out, though, Vancouver is undergoing quite the city-wide infestation with insect numbers a fair bit higher than where they normally are around this time of year.

According to John Mitten of Poulin's Pest Control in Burnaby, the Vancouver area is currently seeing a dramatic increase in the number of wasps, ants, and moths. Apparently, the wetter weather of June "delayed the insect hatching process." Now that the weather is warmer and drier, "everything is hatching and breeding out." This just means that all the bugs are coming all at once, rather than spread out over the span of several months.

Get out that bug spray!
