That is what a bunch of science guys from the University of Alberta are thinking about when it comes to poker - Texas Hold'em to be exact.
As reported in the Vancouver Sun, next month, in the city filled with "artificial" intelligence, their specially designed program will take on two of the poker world's top players.
During an AI conference July 23rd and 24th at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Phil Laak and Ali Eslami will take on 'Polaris' at the same time in separate rooms.
Phil Laak, otherwise known as the Unabomber because of the trademark hooded sweatshirt he used to wear, has earned over $1.2 million dollars in poker tournaments. He is currently dating the actress Jennifer Tilley who won the World Series of Poker in 2005.
Ali Eslami has won over $158 thousand in various World Poker tournaments.
Texas Hold'em is currently THE game of poker to be played. Its popularity is so great that it replaced Baccarat in the latest Bond Film 'Casino Royale.'
I wonder when it will finally run out of steam and what will replace it?
