Little Mountain Housing to be Developed by Holbern Properties

littlemountainhousing.jpg

Our city is getting denser. Houses are being replaced by condominiums, rowhouses by apartment buildings. To further perpetuate this drive to even greater population density, BC Housing plans on completely redeveloping the Little Mountain social housing site located between 33rd and 37th Avenues near Main Street. This proposal has been on the table for some time now.

As you may have heard, the plan is replace the existing social housing with a mixed-use complex. The same amount of subsidized social housing would still be there, but they would add privately-owned housing, retail shops, community facilities, and other neighbourhood amenities. The plan is in place and BC Housing has decided on the developer.

Holbern Properties, based out of Vancouver, will be taking care of the major undertaking. Holbern is currently developing properties in Vancouver, Surrey, Victoria, Whistler and Squamish, so they know a thing or two about building for the West Coast. More information about the project can be found at littlemountainplan.ca.
