Library Workers Reach Tentative Deal: The Strike is Over?

publiclibrary.jpg

First, Vancouver's inside workers struck a deal. Days later, the outside workers agreed to terms. And now, the third and final civic union may have reached a deal with the City of Vancouver. The Canadian Press is reporting that "the union representing striking Vancouver library workers has reached a tentative deal with the city."

CUPE Local 391 has apparently dotted the i's and crossed those t's, because the city's public libraries may be open again as soon as this Wednesday. There has been a media blackout since Tuesday, because the 770 striking library workers are set to vote on the new agreement tomorrow. If approved and ratified, employees will return to branches on Monday, taking at least two days to prepare for re-opening.
