Ismaili Walk: Towards a Healthier Future for BC Women

Every year, thousands of members of BC's Shia Ismaili Muslim community walk together in the annual Ismaili walk. For this year's walk (happening Aug. 24 in Stanley Park) they have chosen BC Women’s new Women’s Health Research Institute (WHRI) as their partner for this inspiring community event.

The WHRI is dedicated to performing cutting-edge research projects, then using what they learn to make real changes to health care access and delivery to improve the lives of women and girls in British Columbia. The mantra that drives their dedicated staff is “healthy women create healthy families that build healthy communities.”

This dedication to implementing scholarly findings in a way that touches real people’s lives is one of the reasons the Ismaili community chose WHRI to be the beneficiary of the 17th annual Ismaili walk.

The funds raised from the walk will help WHRI to continue their research into infertility, breast health, and female-related cancers, and help more BC babies to be born healthy and strong.
