International Volunteer Day in Vancouver

volunteerday.jpg

Around this time of year, many charities may turn to you and ask for donations. Many of these are very worthy causes and they'll be very grateful for whatever money you can choose to send their way. Another resource that you can donate to various organizations around the city, though, is your time. And people who donate their time should be celebrated and applauded.

That's why tomorrow is International Volunteer Day and we're going to have a special event in Vancouver to commemorate it. More specifically, the Vancouver 2010 Olympic volunteers will be celebrating International Volunteer Day at the new Uniform and Accreditation Centre at the Forum Building on the PNE fairgrounds in Vancouver. Media have been invited to join VANOC on Friday, but they'll need to register before 4pm today if they would like to attend.

The event includes a special breakfast event that will honour the Olympic volunteers and celebrate International Volunteer Day in style. And yes, the mascots will be there. No word on Mukmuk.
