Human Error Caused Transit Woes

icebus.jpg

If you were out braving the giant piles of snow and buried side streets yesterday, you may have noticed that transit services were also severely limited. You would have really noticed this if you had to commute to work in the morning.

In part, the blame could be placed on the weather. You would think with icy roads and snow all over the place that buses would take longer to get to where they needed to be. Unfortunately, a bigger factor in yesterday's debacle was actually humor error. TransLink only got 20% of its trolley bus fleet onto the roads because the trolley wires were not de-iced overnight as they should have been.

The manager responsible for the de-icing truck misread the memo. Thankfully, service appears to be back to normal and, despite earlier warnings from Environment Canada, the current forecast no longer calls for a giant snowfall. Let's just hope that TransLink keeps that "human error" in check.
