policeauction.jpg

There will be some 650 bicycles on sale this weekend at the annual Vancouver Police recovery auction. But the deals don't stop at just recovered bikes, because all sorts of things retrieved by the Vancouver Police Department will be put up on the auction block. The police are selling off "the ill-gotten booty they have collected, seized or that has been set adrift - literally - over the past year."

Among the jewelry, clothes, construction equipment, and sports gear is a 24-foot Clipper sailboat. Named Barbotin, the boat was abandoned in False Creek is expected to fetch a couple of thousand dollars, according to auctioneer Rob Kavanagh.

The Vancouver Police Auction, run by the people at Able Auctions, is scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday in Coquitlam. All proceeds go to the City of Vancouver.
