Gas is Now Over $1.50 a Litre

fuelgauge.jpg

If you were planning a cross country road trip in the family's SUV, you may want to rework that budget of yours. Gas prices in Metro Vancouver broke the $1.50 barrier for the first time yesterday, thanks to the new carbon tax that was put in place by the British Columbia government. It is also due to this carbon tax that you got the $100 cheque in the mail.

The going price for gas in Metro Vancouver yesterday, amidst everyone's Canada Day celebrations, was about $1.52 a litre. This is for regular unleaded gas. If you've got one of those cars that requires premium gas, then you've got to fork out even more money. Perhaps it's best if you go somewhere within bicycling distance...

For comparison's sake, gas prices in Bellingham were around $2.49 per gallon yesterday. That works out to about $1.13 a litre. You never thought you'd see the day where you'd drool over $1.13 gas, eh?
