Free, Fun Dance Lessons at Dance at Dusk

At Ceperly Meadow in Stanley Park, you may see a strange sight if you wander by on on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday evening in the summer: groups of people dancing away, right there in the meadow!

What you've stumbled upon is Dance at Dusk, a free series of dance lessons put on by Vancouver Parks and Rec. You don't need to have a partner, and all levels are welcome. Instruction is provided.

Here's what you can learn and when:

Mondays (until August 18): Scottish country dance. These lessons feature members of the Scottish Country Dance Society. What a great excuse to pull out a kilt!

Tuesdays (until August 12): International folk dance. You'll learn circle dances from the Vancouver International Folk Dancers.

Wednesdays (until August 20; no class July 9): Ballroom dance. An open and romantic setting to learn how to jive, swing, cha-cha, rhumba, mambo, samba, tango, fox trot, polka, or waltz

All classes take place 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. You can learn more on the Dance at Dusk web site here.
