Former VPD Deputy Chief Becomes Abby's Head Honcho

bob-rich.jpg

It seems that Bob Rich has moved up by moving a little East. The former Vancouver Police Department deputy chief has taken on the duties of being the new Abbotsford Police Chief Constable. Rich was sworn in at Thunderbird Memorial Square yesterday. During the swear-in, Rich addressed the crowd that had gathered for the occasion, which included family, peers, and Abbotsford community leaders.

Rich said that he was "excited" about the prospects of the new position and he promised to listen to the suggestions and concerns of the 204 officers who serve with the Abbotsford Police Department. It will certainly take the new chief some time to get to know the Abby community a little better, so he will draw from the experience and expertise of his officers.

"The next few months will be about listening and learning," said Rich.
