Former VPD Chief Going to Victoria?

vpd-graham-vic.jpg

You might remember Jamie Graham from his days as the head honcho for the Vancouver Police Department. It seems that people outside of our fair city happen to know who he is and what's he done too, because he could be hopping over to the island to head another police department.

Just as the Vancouver Police Department has used several marketing strategies to attract recruits from all across the country, the Victoria Police Board has turned its attention to the GVRD, expressing interest in taking on Jamie Graham to replace former Victoria chief Paul Battershill. Graham is one of three candidates in the running and he was interviewed last Friday. This has been confirmed by Chris Clement, the vice chair of the Victoria Police Board.

A special meeting is planned for later this week and the announcement of the new chief should happen shortly afterward. It should be noted that Graham was found guilty of discreditable conduct "for failing to co-operate with an RCMP probe into allegations against his department, but was not punished because he had retired from the police force."
