First Canadian Origami Conference

origami.jpg

The Pacific Coast Origami Conference 2007 took place this past weekend, marking the first ever Canadian origami convention. A few hundred people from all around the world gathered in our town to celebrate their paper-folding hobby, expanding their knowledge on the art from that is generally done alone. You don't need to enjoy origami by yourself when there are fantastic conferences like these!

Among the visitors were people from Australia, Holland, Belgium and Japan. Middle-aged women made up the majority of attendees, but there were also several children and seniors as well. Origami is an art form and hobby that can be enjoyed by just about anyone.

During the three day event, attendees could enjoy lectures and classes on different types of origami. They were taught "everything from penguins to three dimensional faces and orchid trees" The spectrum of difficulty was equally broad.

This was the first Canadian origami conference, but based on its initial success, I suspect it won't be the last.
