East Vancouver Invaded by Wild Bear

BearGrowling.gif

Depending on where you live in the city, it's not out of the ordinary to come across a little bit of wildlife. Crows, squirrels, and even raccoons are a pretty common sight. You might even spot the odd coyote from time to time. For residents of the PNE area in East Vancouver, however, they were in for a pretty big surprise over the weekend.

A bear was spotted roaming the streets near the PNE neighbourhood. There was no indication as to whether it was being aggressive or not, but it was struck by a vehicle at one point. After being hit, the bear ran off and conservation officers went on the hunt. They have since been able to capture the animal near the 2100 block of Franklin Street on Sunday morning. The bear has been tranquilized and does not appear to be injured.

Conservation officers will monitor the bear for the next 48 hours before hopefully releasing the animal back into the wild.
